These larger than life portraits adorn a building at the end of the fishing pier in Provincetown, MA.
The photographer, Ewa Nogies, intended this display as a tribute to the Portuguese community and Provincetown's fishing heritage. The women are relatives of the area's fishermen and reminded Ewa of the grandmothers we all grew up with.
"It’s especially important in American culture to make older women visible,” Ewa explained, referring to the images of beautiful young models bombarding us on billboards and in ads.

Oh, wow! That is really cool!! Great photograph. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this a couple years ago. It's very impressive and you did a nice job sharing it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea. I agree it's very important to showcase the women who have changed our lives forever...some famous and some not...it doesn't matter. They made a huge difference with their sacrifice and love for us...
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that someone has decided to remember those special women.
ReplyDeleteSo different and glad you chose to share with us. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get old I'm going to embrace my wrinkles and post my face on the side of the senior citizen homje where I'll undoubtedly be living!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea. Great photograph. Texture gives beautiful colors to the image.
