A lucky find for me was this old box of watercolors on the verge of being thrown in the trash. I brought it home to serve as inspiration. I don't know the person it belonged to but I can imagine some beautiful pieces that the artist may have created. I have never tried watercolors but maybe someday........

Day 37 of 365
Sharing some random thoughts:
ONEAnother week, another snowstorm This story is getting real old. It snows, melts, then snows again. It's a very long winter and Phil, the groundhog, says it will be even longer.
TWO
I would love to be a snowbird and head south for the winter.
THREE
This winter has kept me indoors quite a bit and I am trying to get back to doing some of the art projects I had abandoned months ago. I sat staring at a blank canvas waiting for inspiration to strike. They say when you get stuck you should just put some color down, then it will get easier.
FOUR
In that brief moment of nice weather in between storms we took a ride to Rockport MA. This is Motif #1, a fishing shack well known to students of art and art history as "the most often-painted building in America."
FIVE
I am looking forward to participating in the Liberate Your Art postcard swap hosted by Kat Sloma at Kateye Studio.
Love the 'wharf' image...so quaint and New England-ish!!
ReplyDelete...and for what it's worth, I am one of the 'snowbirds'...I flew south about a decade ago and other than this winter it's been heavenly here. Still, this morning it's cold...a chilling 35 degrees with a high at only 41?!!! What's wrong with this picture....but, no snow. Thank goodness.
i love those old watercolours...such a dreamy photo! don't you just love a good find? And that birdhouse is just adorable!! i would love to have that hanging by my porch! I sure hope old man winter leaves us all soon!
ReplyDeleteSad to say, winter saps my creativity. Hope you find some inspiration! xo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I'm doing Liberate Your Art too - sent my postcards to Kat earlier this week :)
ReplyDeleteIt's my first Random 5, so lovely to 'meet' you :)
I agree, winter is getting long. At least we get a short break between cold snaps. The last time we saw zero or warmer was last Sunday. We are thankful that the wind has been minimal and we get outside to do chores in the morning. Afternoons cooped up in the house get to be long. Sounds like a warm up is headed our way next week.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your art. I find I can't push myself to write. I have lots of ideas, but need the right timing to site and put an article on paper. When I do this I can write and write. It feels great!
Warm thought and wishes for a great weekend to you!
Well, check weather dot com before you head south...I'm here (gulf coast of Texas) and it was in the low 30's this morning. We seem to be having a real winter this year...even had some sleet and snow, just crazy!!
ReplyDeleteWell it's actually stopped raining but it's not the end of it ! Have a great weekend...
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you rescued those watercolors - I completely relate to your feelings about winter. This one seems particularly long, as if it will never end. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and images - they're lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh I can see why it would be the most painted it is gorgeous. I love how you imagination goes to the painter who owned the paints. South is cold too I hear:) I am outside everyday and today is sunny so I will take it:) B
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what that water color paint set will inspire you to create. Perhaps when the snow finally melts and the spring flowers arrive, you will find that inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThat paint box is a special find. What stories it must hold. I love winter and snow, so I wouldn't ever travel south!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful little treasure you have found in your paint box. Your images looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of images, Stephanie! It's been a bad winter, but the good news is that is has to end something :]
ReplyDeleteWe have a puzzle of that fishing shack. At least your snow melts.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed each of these - especially the fishing shack. I too would fly south, but considering their winter this year - it might be west instead.
ReplyDeletelooks like you need some new paints. i am loving that fish pier shot ... that is a wonderful view. ( :
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that frozen/frosty like weather seems to also freeze the human spirit. And then a blue sky day makes us "zing" into life again. Soon those paint brushes will be creating on the canvas . . . I hope you share with us!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful find! I love your first snow image...simply gorgeous, especially to those of us that don't get much snow!
ReplyDeleteYour photo of the Lumiere paints caught my eye. It looks like you're off to a good start! Your snow photos are pretty, but I'd rather migrate, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot of the fishing shack, very colorful.
ReplyDeleteYes let's get winter over with!
I use to own a bunch of those paints. They make for some lovely and shimmery art work.
Love the paint box. I like how you are inspired by things like that. I totally miss the boat on collecting something for inspiration. My inspiration seems to come (and go) rather spontaneously. Glad to see you went back over to LF. Have a great day. It's sunny.
