Randomness

Nancy at A Rural Journal is so kind to let us ramble on with our random thoughts.  This is what I have been mulling over this week.

1.  What is it about sunflowers that makes me stop and snap a photo.  I swore I was done for this year with the hundred photos I had taken but then I found these huge sunflowers right around the corner from me.  They reached to the second floor of the building and had enormous heads.    Some looked really good and some were past their prime (like me).   Those are the ones I photographed.

2.  Our town spent a lot of time and money getting "beautified" this year.  Flowers were planted along both sides of our little bridge and I wondered if they would last the summer.  They did and they look darn good.

3.  I found a fence this week that was just perfect for a photo op and I found this guy on it.

4.  Yesterday there was a house here.  A really nice house.  It was sold about two years ago for somewhere in the $800,000 range.  The new owner spent 9 months doing a major renovation.  Weeks were spent building a gorgeous fieldstone chimney and the landscaping was lovely.  It went on the market again this summer for over $1 Million and sold in a matter of days.  This is what it looks like today.

The new owners just wanted the lot (ocean view) and they will build something bigger and better and certainly more expensive. This whole thing blows my mind.

5.  When I woke up this morning my mind was blank and I didn't think I had anything to say here today .

  1. I know what you mean about sunflowers; they are just so hard to pass by....I can't image someone tearing down such a house only to build again..It seems like such a waste, Both of us had spiders on our minds today; I posted about one too....You really got a great shot....Have a great weekend...

  3. Weird how the land is much more valuable than what sits on it for some people. To each his/her own I guess.

Love the sunflower shot --- I'm always drawn to the older ones too.

  5. That is surprising that they would tear down the house just for the land--wow.

I love sunflowers, too. They just seem to have so much personality!

Great photo of the spider webs--I am amazed at their intricacy of the webs.

  6. That disappearing house is mind boggling to me too. I just don't get it. But we each have our own thing. I hear so many people say, it's not the house, it's the LAND.

Sunflowers are gorgeous! Big, sunny, happy. I love them too! Have a great weekend, Stephanie.

  11. I'm with you -- sunflowers are happy and cheery, even if they are past their prime. That empty lot is amazing. Well, they say in real estate what matters is location, location, location! Glad you came up with these interesting randoms to post!

  12. this is a huge sunflower and a beautiful photo, the web, spider and a bit of morning dew is wonderful-I think some of us have too much money and not enough soul.

  13. I know where you found that spider web....jus' sayin'. How bad is that that I can tell? I have been shooting around here for a long time.
I hear you on the tear down. It breaks my heart-and I'm in the biz. And what do you bet the new one will sit vacant 3/4 the year-leavning that ocean view for no one to cherish. Some people have too much money. I'll stick with my little house and be grateful.

  15. I can't pass sunflowers either without taking a photo of many of them. I actually like them a lot when they are past their prime - like yours, which is gorgeous. The spider is wonder as well. This is the time when we see them in their webs, I especially like them in the morning, when the dew is still hanging in the web. And No.4? I'm shaking my head in disbelief.
