Random Winter Thoughts

ONE

It is expected that winter will be cold.  Temperatures below zero are not expected - at least not here where I live.  Early this morning it was 10 below and still dark out  at my house and it was still snowing - over 30 hours now.  I knew I wasn't going out today.  Heck,  I didn't even want to get out of bed.

It was Day 3 of my 365 and a friend advised me to do it early in the day because as the day draws to an end it gets harder to find a good subject.  So I took my photo before doing anything else - from the inside looking out.

Frosting
Day 3 of 365

TWO

Even though I have no intentions of leaving the house today the husband bravely ventured out to work.  He's got a 30 mile commute and I'm sure it won't be easy.  A lot of businesses are closed today and there are many cancellations but there's no way my husband would stay home.

THREE

A local fellow plows our driveway and his teenage son shovels the walks.  The kid actually used an honest to goodness shovel -  until today.  It appears that Santa brought someone a new toy.  The job was done in 5 minutes.

FOUR

The last time I was out taking pictures I complained to my husband that my fingers were so numb from the cold I could barely snap the pictures.

He found a way to deal with that.  I guess he does listen to my whining after all.  What a guy.  Look at what he bought me.

FIVE

I am now officially tired of winter - the cold and the snow and the ice.  I miss the sunshine and the world around me is dreary and colorless.  Winter cannot end soon enough.

  5. Thirty hours of snow!!!! Yikes! I'm shivering just thinking about that. If it's any consolation, I love the frosty pattern on the window. That is really lovely. Stay warm....under the covers!

  6. That will be a lot of snow, impressed with your husband and his going to work, I do love those fingerless gloves and your frosty window photo. I've lived in winters like this and don't miss them at all. Staying home is what I would do.

  7. After living in Colorado's mountains for over 40 years, I don't think I could make it a winter in the snow again. I'm lovin' the south!!!

Here's hoping Spring comes quick enough for you....

  8. Love your gloves (what a guy). Lovely *cold* weather shots. I can remember living in the cold -- a very long time ago. I'm with Anni ... living on the Gulf Coast has it's advantages. Stay warm and safe. Happy New Year.

  10. I need me some of those gloves! Your friend was right, that frosty window came out great. ; )
That last image is really nice-it speaks of winter, drab, colorless, cold dreary. I ususally sick of winter by Halloween. Bring on the spring!

  11. How nice to have someone help plow all that snow. I am so feeling lucky & blessed that our winter has been pretty mild with barely any snow. Of course it's not over yet so next month might be our snowy month. How nice of your hubby to get those mittens. That's a great idea, even though it was nearly 50 out yesterday a wind was blowing and my fingers got a bit chilled while I was out taking photos.

  13. I love fingerless gloves as I find it so difficult to maneuver in the regular kind.

Hang in there -- spring will be here soon!
